WDSF Open Youth Standard – Like at the European Championships, but right at the front

The WDSF Youth Standard Open went into the first round with 34 couples from eleven nations. The DTV made up around two thirds of the field with 21 couples, while another eight nations were only represented by one couple each. There were also two couples from France and three from the Czech Republic.
Four of the 34 couples had already met two weeks earlier at the European Championships in Moldova. Two European Championship participants were able to place significantly further ahead on the dance floor in Frankfurt: The European Championship semifinalists (11th/12th place) Mikhail Mokrushov/Sofia Kempf from Israel won “Hessen Dances” with first place each in four dances, the DTV representatives Serhii Kondratov/Jolie Pickshaus, the European Championship connection pair for the semifinals (13th), followed the winners with second places in four dancing and winning the tango. Third place went to Romans Bogdanovs/Patricija Paula Vindele, a fairly active couple from Latvia who danced their eighth WDSF competition this year in Frankfurt. Places four to six also went to Eastern Europe. (usr)
