WDSF Open Senior III Standard – Second victory for Lukawczyk / Desai from England
With 145 couples competing, the WDSF Open Senior III Standard was the most numerous WDSF competition of the weekend. As a result, there were also 15 star couples and a total of six competition rounds before the winners were decided. Having already won the WDSF Open Senior III Latin the day before, Slawek Lukawczyk and Janine-Nicole Desai, competing for England, also managed to win the standard section of the tournament, but this time clearly in all five dances. They were followed in second place by Stefano Maraboli and Laura Donati from Italy – with only a third place in the Slowfox. Two German couples, who have already fought a close duel at many competitions in the past, fought for third place. After a third place in the slow waltz, Thomas and Susanne Schmidt from Wetzlar slipped to fourth place in the other dances, meaning that this time they had to give way to Ingo Bauer and Sandra Fürsattel from Nuremberg. Places five and six were clearly awarded in all dances. The second Italian couple in the final – Fiorenzo Fortin and Marianna Voltan – finished in fifth place ahead of Ronny Romijn and Anne Romijn-Briene from the Netherlands.
