WDSF Open Senior IV Standard – Victory Goes to the European Champions

With these words, the awards ceremony for the first WDSF competition — marking the opening event of “Hessen tanzt” — concluded at the Ice Sports Hall in Frankfurt.
The entry list featured 82 couples from eight nations. By the final round, four of those nations were still represented among the six finalists. Standing at the very top of the podium were the reigning European Champions in the Senior IV Standard category, Jens and Maike Wolff. Winning four of the dances, the couple from Hamburg took the lead of the field. They conceded only the Tango to the runners-up and European Vice-Champions, Gerhard and Marion Funk. Third place also remained in German hands, going to Knut and Iris Möller from Freiburg.
When asked shortly before the awards ceremony whether they had ever won Hessen tanzt before, Maike Wolff replied: “No, neeeever!” After the ceremony, there was nothing but jubilation: “This is a-maaaazing!”
