WDSF Open Senior II Standard – Battle between World and European champion
The final of the Senior II Standard formed the conclusion of this year’s Hessen tanzt. To ensure that the eleven international judges were really challenged once again, seven of the 82 competing couples reached the final after three intermediate rounds. Here, the current European champions and runners-up from Lithuania met the world champions and runners-up from the Netherlands. In the end, the decision was clearer than expected and in favour of the world champions Serhii and Olha Shulha, who clearly won all five dances. This meant that Tomas Rimkus and Nerija Surblyte from Lithuania had to make do with second place. The German runners-up Maksim Tschernin and Diana Pierau from Munich won three dances to two against Miroslav Serak and Martina Grosupova from the Czech Republic and secured third place overall. Two couples from the Czech Republic followed in fifth and sixth place, who fought a duel that was only decided in the final Quickstep in favour of Petr Kiesel and Alice Pokorna, who finished ahead of Ales Kaspar and Lenka Serakova. The seventh place in the final went to the second German couple in this final, Fabian Lohauß and Simone Braunschweig from Berlin.
