The 50th “Hessen tanzt” is over
2492 individual competition starts were made by 1369 different couples from all over the world (from the USA to Australia). A total of 33 nations were represented. Several world and European champions were also at the start. The new inclusion of the WDSF Open Senior III Latin as the 15th world ranking competition in the event also proved its worth, as the tournament was well received with 41 participants. Over three days, a total of 660 songs were played by the music team Hessen.

In addition to the competitions, there were show performances by the rock’n’roll girls’ formation ‘Young Tigers’ from Giessen/Frankenbach, Marleen Mühl, the European champion solo main class in guard dancing, and the HTV breaking squad under the direction of coach Omar Qiami.

On Friday, Hessischer Rundfunk was on site and recorded three short reports, which were broadcast in various programmes on the same day (two of them even live).
There were also numerous guests of honour to welcome: WDSF Vice President for Sports Nenad Jeftic was on site for two days and addressed the participants and visitors. Ann Kathrin Linsenhoff, the sports commissioner of the state of Hesse, also took the opportunity to welcome the attendees and presented the HTV with generous financial support for the event.

Shortly beforehand, Anika Mehlhorn, Vice President of Competitive Sports of the Hesse State Sports Association, was there and spent a long time watching the event with great interest. Andreas Bechmann from the Frankfurt sports district was on site to see the event for himself.
From the HTV’s point of view, it was another successful event. We hope that the participants and visitors feel the same way, so that we will see each other again next year from 8th to 10th of May in the Frankfurt ice rink.
