WDSF International Open Standard – Burneikis / Lax win duel for the title
81 couples competed in the International Open Standard, six of whom were allowed to skip the preliminary round and enter the competition one round later. An exciting duel between the two top German couples was to be expected in the final, and almost all the top scores were distributed between them. In the first two dances it was still very close (the same number of first places in the slow waltz, so that the number of second places decided the decision in favour of Karolis Burneikis and Fabien Lax from Nuremberg). In the Tango, too, the Nuremberg couple only had one first place more than the German runners-up Yahor Boldysh and Irina Averina from Dresden. From the Viennese Waltz onwards it became a little clearer, so that in the end the third of the germand championships Burneikis / Lax won all the dances. We can only hope that these two top couples will continue to have such exciting duels. Third place went to Roman Dobrecovs and Violette Levchenko from Latvia – with a fourth place in the Viennese Waltz and a second in the Quickstep. With Erik Kem and Viktoria Grushevskaja from Munich and Vladyslav Tsykhanovskyi and Veronika Tsikhanovska from Pforzheim in fourth and fifth place, two more german couples were represented in the final. In sixth place, Egor Nikolaev and Jerry Lee from Hong Kong completed the final round.
