Three days of dance sport mega-event with a unique atmosphere and a variety of starting classes that cannot be found anywhere else in such a compact form have come to a successful end. The ice rink is empty, the first flags have been taken down. The event was a complete success, as the following data shows:
- 80 competitions, 14 of which were WDSF competitions (only 2 starting classes had to be canceled due to too few participants)
- 1332 couples from 32 nations (incl. USA, South Africa, Hong Kong, China, Philippines) with a total of 2435 competition starts
- several German champions, European champions and world champions starting
- the Hessen music team played a total of 20 hours of music over three days (685 pieces of music)
- over 100 volunteers and approx. 170 adjudicators in action
A big thank you to everyone who took part, whether as participants, spectators, adjudicators or helping hands.

Of course, not everything can always run smoothly at such a huge event. The parking situation was not ideal due to circumstances that unfortunately only became known to us as organizers shortly beforehand, and the schedule on Friday got a little out of hand. But even though “Hessen tanzt” has now taken place for the 49th time, the general conditions are never quite the same, so you learn something new every year and make improvements for next year.
It’s best to make a note of it now: The anniversary event (the 50th “Hessen tanzt”) will take place from May 16 to 18, 2025.
