WDSF Open Senior IV Standard – Surprise at the top

A total of 66 couples competed in the first WDSF competition of the weekend – the Senior IV Standard – including five who were able to skip the preliminary round due to their WDSF ranking. (Actually, there would have been six, but one of the six star couples did not show up for the competition.
In the final, which was made up entirely of German couples, the result was a bit of a surprise. Despite a second place in the slow waltz and third place in the tango, Knut and Iris Möller were able to place just ahead of the German champions Dr Michael and Regina Groß, who took second place three times after winning the first two dances. The podium was completed by Hans and Petra Sieling, who took second place in the tango and third place elsewhere. Another Hessian couple, Alfons and Beatrix Schwake, followed in fourth place (in all dances). Dirk Keller and Heidemarie Schulz-Brüsewitz were ahead of Alexander and Anne-Gabriele Beaumont in three out of five dances and were thus able to secure fifth place.
